CIBA NOIR
Ciba Noir inszeniert das Fotopapier Cibachrome mit seinen einmaligen Eigenschaften. Vor einer reflektierenden Silberschicht trägt Cibachrome (oder Ilfochrome) mehrere Farbschichten, die bei der Entwicklung nach Bedarf substrahiert werden. Bis zu seinem Produktionsende 2013 ermöglichte Cibachrome seit den 1960er Jahren hochwertige Fotografien höchster Haltbarkeit, Farbbrillanz und Bildtiefe. Ciba Noir zeigt das reine Material, belichtet, aber ohne chemische Entwicklung, alle möglichen Farben und Bilder bereits in sich tragend, seine unbestimmten Farbtöne, die viel tiefer wirken als Schwarz.
Ciba Noir showcases the Cibachrome photographic paper with its unique qualities. Here, in both Cibachrome and also Ilfochrome, a reflecting silver surface is covered with several layers of colours, which are subtracted as required during the photographic developing process. Up to 2013, when Cibachrome ceased production of the paper, it had, since the 1960s, enabled the creation of high-value photographs with top marks for durability, colour brilliancy and depth of focus. Ciba Noir shows the material as such, exposed to the light but without any chemical processing, carrying all colours and images already within itself, including those indefinite nuances that give the impression of being much darker than black.
